A new therapy for managing high blood pressure demonstrated a statistically significant meaningful improvement for patients. On the basis there are 1.3 billion people worldwide living with high blood pressure and treatments can remain complex, there’s a significant market to be tapped here. The AstraZeneca share price was around 2.5% higher shortly after the bell.
There’s a multi-faceted update out from the AI developers Tao Alpha this morning, which includes news of a new CEO appointment, alongside a notification that the company has started buying bitcoin as part of its treasury management strategy. We have seen this approach used with increased frequency and it’s offering investors a regulated way to gain exposure to digital assets. Shares in Tao Alpha – which is to be renamed Satsuma Technology – were 27% higher in early trade.
It’s a quiet start to the week in terms of corporate news but mining stocks are finding favour in early trade, with Fresnillo leading the blue chips. There’s a lot of activity being seen in the sector as manufacturers look to lock in supplies ahead of tariffs being imposed, whilst traders also attempt to find fair value for metals amidst a declining US Dollar and potential broad-based economic weakness. The Fresnillo share price was 2.8% higher by 8.40am.
